In the latest 2024 edition of the "World's Top 2% Scientists" list released by Stanford University, 61 scholars from National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) have been recognized, an increase of three compared to last year. The list is divided into two categories: the "Career-Long Impact Ranking (1960-2023)" and the "2023 Single-Year Impact Ranking." NCHU had 54 scholars named in the "Career-Long Impact Ranking (1960-2023)," placing sixth among universities in Taiwan. Additionally, 31 scholars were listed in the "2023 Single-Year Impact Ranking," showcasing the university’s strong academic performance and earning international recognition.

The NCHU scholars included in the "World's Top 2% Scientists" list come from a wide range of departments and institutes, including Civil Engineering, Soil and Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Biotechnology Center, Biomedical Engineering, Bio-Industry Management, Bio-Industrial Mechatronics Engineering, Biotechnology, Optoelectronic Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Technology Management, Food Science and Biotechnology, Communication Engineering, Forestry, Plant Pathology, Information Management, Data Science and Information Computing, Electrical Engineering, Library and Information Science, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Translational Medicine. These scholars represent various fields such as agriculture, life sciences, engineering, and social sciences, highlighting NCHU’s achievements in interdisciplinary collaboration and internationalization, both of which have been bolstered by government support for higher education initiatives. NCHU continues to strive toward becoming a world-class university.

The "World's Top 2% Scientists" list is based on data from Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database in the world. The data, collected as of August 1, 2024, covers the period from 1960 to 2023. Scholars are evaluated using six indicators: total citations, Hirsch h-index, Schreiber Hm-index adjusted for co-authorship, and citation counts for papers authored solo, as first author, or as first or last author. These metrics assess the long-term and recent impact of academic research output.
